French minister tells of risks of missing school as more pupils return
Priority is to avoid ‘collateral damage’ of Covid-19 crisis, says Jean-Michel Blanquer
France’s education minister has told parents it was more of a risk keeping their children at home than sending them to school now the strict lockdown has ended.
Jean-Michel Blanquer was speaking as a second wave of pupils returned to secondary schools. Blanquer said the government’s priority was to avoid youngsters who struggle at school or at home becoming “collateral damage” of the Covid-19 crisis.
